Dr. Johanna Schmidt is head of the research unit “Visual Analytics” at VRVis Zentrum für Virtual Reality und Visualisierung Forschungs-GmbH in Vienna. She received her Master’s degree in Computer Science and afterwards continued with a Ph.D. in data visualisation at the TU Vienna, Austria. Her current research focuses on the visual analysis of large datasets, mainly manufacturing data originating from industry companies and time series data. Additionally she is a lecturer at the TU Vienna and at the FH Salzburg.
Technical Vision Talk: “Visual Analytics of time-dependent process data”
Process data as collected in the manufacturing industry provides us with various challenges. Datasets contain complex, heterogeneous structures with many different quantities. Datasets also, usually, are of quite a large size. Making this data accessible and ready for interpretation, not only for data scientists, is still a challenging task. The presentation will show use-cases where visual analytics methods have been successfully applied to understand better process data at RHI Magnesita and Austrian Power Grid. In addition, the presentation will reflect on lessons learned and future topics.
